The girls are wearing hats as well. One has a white shirt on too. The car has spoked wheels. Dr. Walton Culin with daughters Alice in center and Erma in the doctors buckboard. This is the first horseless carriage in Coos County. Per William A. Lansing, Pioneer Doctors of Coos County Oregon, p. 29: After several years of conducting his rounds to rural patients near town by horseback and boat, in 1904, Dr. Culin became the first owner of an automobile in the county - which he used extensively to reach patients close to town. |
