Title |
Front Street, Marshfield |
Description |
Black and white photo of a street scene. Many people are on both sides of the street. To left a carriage being pulled by two horses and on right a man with a goat. There are telephone lines and the street is paved with sidewalks on each side. Large building to left with signage "Central Hotel" and other sign next to it reads "DK Chop House". Seems to be 14 buildings that can be noted. Bottom center text reads "Front St. Marshfield, Ore. 20". To the right a long sign shows "Telephone". On back of photo reads "Postcard". A letter written in cursive says "The building with cross is the former Bennet Swanton Bank now torn down for parking lot. The building this side of it is what they call Eldorado Bldg. and they want to tear that down, too. From the telephone pole I marked everything burned for 4 blocks going north on both sides of the street in 1923. So this pic was taken before that". |
