Description |
Cloth doll dressed as a World War I soldier. He is wearing handmade brown pants with fringes on the sides. He is wearing a handmade brown shirt with a knitted brown vest. The cloth and stuffing form the hands. The face has painted, hand-drawn features. The hair is black with black eyes and eyebrows. He has a red cheery mouth which is partly open showing white teeth. Made by Irene Cook during World War I. The little sweater it wears was maker's very first knitting. Maker made the doll and sent it overseas to her brother, a soldier. He always kept it because his little sister had made and sent it. |
